Conflicting Landscapes

Conflicting Landscapes
Clifton Bates and Michael J. Oleksa
A book written about kids, for the well-being of kids, Alaska Native Kids, and the schools they attend. The authors describe the histories of the various school philosophies and their impact on past generations. The book includes details of the situation in many if not most rural schools today and offers specific proposals for improving the intellectual, emotional, and spiritual health of the present and future generations. The authors' hope for this book is that it will revitalize meaningful discussion and debate of these issues and lead to positive school reforms that will enrich Alaska communities.
